Why Sushi Zo Rules

My friend Rio introduced me to the mouthwatering gastronomical delight known as Sushi Zo. Just how wickedly good is Zo? It's Zo good I want to do cartwheels....which is more like a half somersault since my hand-feet coordination is less than desirable. My boyfriend, on the other hand, could probably complete an elegant somersault...possibly a back flip. That's how good the Omikase is at Zo.

The restaurant is located in Palms, in a somewhat sketchy area. You'll find ample parking in the strip mall connected to Rite Aid. Zo has received a multitude of kudos from Yelpers. One afficionado from North Hollywood listed the delectable bites (the Omikase selection changes):

*oyster

*hamachi

*abalone

*baby squid

*tuna

*baby scallop

*albacore

*golden eye snapper

*spanish mackerel

*cod fish milt (cod sperm)

*butterfish

*monkfish liver

*salmon with shaved seaweed and fresh ginger

*needlefish

*halibut with salt and lemon

*sweet shrimp

*orange clam

*yellowtail

*pompano

*yellow striped jack

*red snapper

*taro tuna
*duo of salmon roe and sea urchin

*blue crab hand roll

*eel

*sweet, refreshing yuzu drink.

Tennis Ball Cannon For Dogs...Woof!

This video is priceless! If only my little Shih Tzu Bowie had the brains to figure out how to utilize this type of contraption. It would provide hours of entertainment!

Friday I'm in Love...

I'm in love with Fridays. Time to kick off the weekend in my grubby clothes and unsightly (comfy) Uggs.

This N-Gage video is pretty cool -- but it takes a while to get to the message and branding. The interactive game doesn't feel very interactive. In fact, you can whack people without doing a darn thing. Nevertheless, I like the hipster dude floating around to the beat of the soundtrack...I wish I could maneuver myself like that without touching the ground. On Fridays, I kind of feel light as air...

This is a fun little picture taken over the Christmas holiday last year. Bowie is my little shih-tzu pup on the left, and Poky is my parents' 15-year-old lhaso apso. Bowie often has a crazy mess of hair, and is quite maniacal in no uncertain terms. My sister affectionately refers to him as Monster Dog or Stinky Cheese face. My boyfriend always refers to him as Stinky Nuts. In my eyes, Bowie is a gremlin -- a beastie. While not the sharpest knife in the drawer, he is quite adorable and for that reason, I sometimes treat him like a living teddy bear.

V Bagel Chips

Back in college, I lived on a very unhealthy diet of Ben & Jerry's pints, doughy breadsticks, cheesesteak sandwiches, and ramen cups. I absolutely loved eating toasted bagels slathered with a generous helping of butter or Philly cream cheese. My obsession with bagels lead to my alter ego - toasterbagel.

Crusty on the outside but a softie on the inside.
